Tips for Using Aroma Inhalers to Support Immune Health as We Emerge from Stay at Home

I was in Old Town Temecula today filling online orders and things have gone from quiet "ghost town" back to mini traffic jams, motorcycles and classic cars drawing cheers from patio diners, car alarms going off, and shops of all sorts opening back up.

And I've noticed a mix of excitement and fear as we emerge from our homes and get back to normal. While I can't offer any oils or herbs known to specifically fight COVID19 -- we do know that essential oils can help fight germs and support immune health. So in addition to washing your hands, breathing in essential oils can offer support in many ways.

Essential oils and aroma inhalers are helpful at fighting germs. And if you can thwart a germ before it gets into your cells it can help prevent one from getting sick. And if you can't diffuse or steam with essential oils using an aroma inhaler can be very beneficial.

I like using aroma inhalers not only to support immune and respiratory health, but also to boost mood, support focus, ease feelings of stress, and support sleep.

In this post I'd like to share a few inhaler blends that are help in fighting germs. In order to infect us and make us sick, viruses have to bind to receptors on our cells, enter into the cell, replicate, and bud off or lyse the cell.

By blocking their entry or otherwise thwarting their cellular hijacking we can support wellness.

Likewise by stimulating white blood cell production we have a bigger immune army ready to fight. While there is no blend that is proven to fight the specific virus that has been wreaking havoc, many essential oils have been found to be effective against similar enveloped viruses and may help.

In addition to using an aroma inhaler and diffusing essential oils hand-washing, disinfecting areas, and using social distancing and other practices to avoid exposure to germs will help as we emerge from stay at home.

Below are a few of my favorite inhaler blend recipes to fight germs. If you have questions about aroma inhalers of need supplies contact me or visit the Aromatherapy by Tricia and Be Kekoa Apothecary website.

Aroma inhalers basically consist of a cotton wick housed in a plastic or metal case. You simply uncap, inhale and enjoy. They are especially powerful when coupled with mindful breathing.

Energizing Immune Inhaler Recipe:

This recipe includes essential oils that stimulate white blood cell production and fight germs. Many essential oils have been shown effective at thwarting viruses prior to cell entry but patchouli seems to act to help prevent virus from budding off and infecting other cells. Cinnamon and clove are amazing germ fighters and ravintsara is a great anti viral and supports respiratory health. This combination is a great blend to support immune health from many angles.

5 drops Cinnamomum camphora (ravintsara) essential oil

5 drops Citrus limon (lemon) essential oil
