The third Saturday of each month, I gather with a group of women for coffee and devotions sponsored by Women Organizing Women or WOW.
Women Organizing Women is "comprised of professional women from all walks of life and works diligently to create a platform of mentorship, coaching, training, and resources that make impressionable and impactful differences in the life of women and children." And I'm privileged to be a member of this group.
This month Pattie Roberts the founder and director of STAT Sanctuary spoke about how saving horses that are too old to ride serve as companion and therapy animals. They also serve as a sanctuary for many other farm animals and have a wheelchair accessible garden to create a peaceful, healing, accessible space.
STAT Sanctuary also serves the community by providing professional counseling equine therapy and hosting parties. The sanctuary holds particular appeal to the special needs community, veterans, and seniors. Being outdoors and among gentle, sweet animals, hearing the chirping birds does wonders.
STAT Sanctuary is a wonderful place to volunteer as a family or for teens looking for community service hours. Patti's heart for saving animals has turned into a beautiful win for supporting the needs of people in our community.
